Derek Coles is Chief Executive Officer of Ryan Direct Group (“RDG”). Derek joined Ryan Specialty Group (“RSG”) when Direct Group was acquired by RSG in November 2012. Derek is responsible for leading and delivering the business operations and strategy of RDG for over 500 employees across site locations in Doncaster, London, Chelmsford, Belfast, Preston and Elland.

RDG delivers a wide range of MGA and TPA services across the insurance industry, providing solutions to carriers, brokers, corporates and affinities. RDG is involved in all aspects of insurance activities from distribution to claims in a wide variety of insurance classes, from property and casualty to life and motor.

Derek had been with Direct Group since 2006. In 2007, he led the management buy-out of Direct Group from Barclays Private Equity. Prior to Direct Group, Derek was Managing Director for GAB Robins the global loss adjuster and earlier had spent 23 years with Barclays Bank, serving as Managing Director for the insurance intermediaries of both the Barclays and Woolwich brands.
