Ian Theato is co-CEO of RSG Transactional Risks Europe, RSG’s managing general agency based in London and dedicated to providing bespoke insurance solutions to the mergers and acquisitions community. RSG Transactional Risks Europe, which was previously named Hunter George & Partners, was formed in September 2013 and commenced underwriting in March 2014. RSG Transactional Risks Europe’s core product is warranty and indemnity insurance and the company is unique amongst its peers both in terms of its core market focus and approach to risk. These unique features enable Hunter George & Partners to create true value and innovative solutions for its clients.
Ian began his career in 1986 working in personal lines for two years before moving to the Robert Fleming Insurance Brokers in London focusing on broking property and casualty products. In 1995, Ian moved to Marsh Finpro wholesaling North American and Middle Eastern D&O into London. In 2000, Ian moved across to underwriting for Gulf Insurance Co, where he focused on underwriting a full suite of Professional Liability products including insurance for Mergers and Acquisitions.
In 2003, Ian was hired by Allied World to create a Professional Liability presence in London and subsequently built a very profitable division including a dedicated M&A underwriting capability. In September 2008, at time of great financial crisis, Ian was transferred to AWAC Bermuda to run the International Professional Liability including London. After overhauling the portfolio and setting in place building blocks for the future, Ian returned to London in the summer of 2011 but left in March 2013 to found Hunter George.Back to List Next Bio
